CITIZEN OF THE WORLD is an opera created by students; the result of a week of workshops led by the internationally-known composer DAVID BEDFORD with theatre director Kelly Wilkinson.

This is part of a Heritage Lottery Funded project, ‘Celebrating Sylvia Pankhurst’. The great human rights campaigner and suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst lived in Woodford, now in the London Borough of Redbridge, from 1924 until 1956. ‘Celebrating Sylvia Pankhurst’ is a Heritage Lottery Funded project for 2008, to promote interest in her as a figure important to local and national heritage.

'Celebrating Sylvia Pankhurst' project activities include an exhibition at Redbridge Museum on till 21 June, various workshops for schools and archive trips to important collections, the publication of a new schools’ 20c history book and the creation of a new website, all about Sylvia Pankhurst.
